The Application Kit will give you an outline of the application process, including all information that must to sent. Reference forms need to be completed and sent, by the referee, before an application can be fully processed.

Things You Need to Know for Spring & Summer

Interview Dates & Locations
With the high volume of applications that we receive, we will only be contacting qualified and/or experienced applicants for positions. Applicants selected to receive an interview (both new applicants and returning staff) will be contacted by email starting in December and continuing until positions are filled.

Interviews are conducted in person for first time applicants. Returning applicants will be interviewed by phone or Skype or in person.

Once Fair Havens Ministries feels that it has the right COORDINATOR/CORE for the program and service role, and ALL reference forms are in and completed, the applicant may be accepted before application deadlines, so apply as early as possible. 

All COORDINATOR/CORE will receive their contracts by February 14, 2017.

All summer hired applicants will be notified by email or phone on or before April 1, 2017.  

Dates and locations will be posted soon, and applicants will be made aware of interview options well in advance.

Arrival & Departure Dates

Spring Crew: April 30 - June 27, 2017

Summer: June 27 - September 2 (Orientation Week begins Tuesday, June 27, 2017)

Orientation Weekend (May 19-22)
A critical team building and pre-summer bonding time is our stepping stones Staff Orientation Weekend. This weekend is mandatory for all summer students, so please mark this weekend on your calendar. It is a great time to get to know one another and build the spirit for the summer. There will also be some important sessions and times to meet with departments, on this CAN'T MISS WEEKEND

Summer Student Uniforms
The uniform will be a t-shirt or golf shirt with black/beige pants/shorts. Fair Havens will provide the shirts, students must provide their own black/beige pants/shorts. 2 pairs of each are recommended. Department specific footwear will be required -i.e.- CSA Approved Safety Shoes for Maintenance, non-slip closed toe footwear for Dining Room, Cafe and Housekeeping.

Police Checks
All summer students hired are required to present a current Standard Police Check from their local police department dated in 2016 if under 18. A Vulnerable Sector Police Check is required for those over 18.  These MUST be received prior to beginning your spring or summer term.

An integral part of the summer is the community that is formed while living onsite together at Fair Havens and at the Fair Glen Youth Campus. All students are required to live there for the summer.

Males and females live in separate dwellings.

Spiritual Growth & Development:
Your summer at FHM should be a place where you grow in your knowledge and experience of God, and in serving and living with others, it is important to nurture your personal spiritual development. Here are some of the Spiritual growth activities that you will be involved in.
